About Us

We’re CarSeatGapFiller.com, a small company built around one slightly obsessive idea: nobody should have to feel around beside their car seat for a phone, a set of keys or a coin. That narrow gap between the seat and the center console swallows more than its share of everyday stuff, and almost everyone has a story about it.

The moment that bothered us

You’re driving. Your phone slides off the seat and drops into the gap. Now you’ve got a choice: leave it, or reach for it. Most of us reach.

That’s the part we couldn’t let go of. A lost phone is annoying. A driver fumbling beside the seat while the car is moving is a different thing. Dropping a phone isn’t the same as texting, but it still pulls your eyes and a hand away from the road, and the federal numbers on distracted driving show what’s at stake.

315,167people injured in those crashes in 2024 (an NHTSA estimate)
5 secondsof eyes-off-the-road time to read or send one text. At 55 mph that’s the length of a football field.

In the 100-Car Study, reaching for a moving object was the riskiest habit on that list by a wide margin. A gap filler won’t fix distracted driving, and we’re not going to pretend it does. A phone mount, a quiet phone and a proper place for your keys all help too. What a gap filler does is remove one reason to reach in the first place: the thing you were holding just fell in.

Why a gap filler

Phones are only part of it. Keys, coins, cards, earbuds, pens and the occasional french fry all end up down there, and getting them back can mean pulling the seat forward and lying across the console with a flashlight. It’s a small problem, and we like small problems with simple fixes.

The more we looked into it, though, the more we saw the catch. The gap isn’t the same size in every car, it changes as the seat moves, and plenty of products promise to fit everything. So we built this company around being straight about that.

What it looks like in use

Here are a few everyday situations, drawn simply so you can see what a gap filler is meant to do.

Without oneYour phone slips off your lap and drops straight into the gap.
With oneThe same phone lands on top, where you can see it and reach it after you park.
When the seat movesSlide forward, slide back, recline. Always check the full range after you put one in.
The small stuffKeys, coins and cards stay up top instead of disappearing.

The drawings are simplified, and the filler is shown in blue so it’s easy to spot. Your seat, console and gap will look different, which is why we suggest measuring first.

What we promise

  • Honest talk about fit. We haven’t verified fit for specific car models yet, and we say so. You won’t find a made-up compatibility list here.
  • A way to check first. The free photo measuring tool and the printable Gap Check Card let you look at your own gap before you buy. Your photo never leaves your device.
  • Safety before sales. Some cars have side airbags in the inner edge of the front seats, and a few carmakers say to keep the space beside the seat clear. Check your owner’s manual. If it says to keep that space empty, don’t put a gap filler there, even if that means we lose a sale.
  • Simple terms. $24.95 for a pair, free shipping in the US, and we’ll help you check the fit before you order. If an order arrives damaged or wrong, we’ll make it right.
  • A real person on the other end. Email [email protected] and a person will write back.

Small on purpose

This isn’t a catalog of a thousand gadgets. It’s one product, the Car Seat Gap Filler (Pair), and a handful of guides and tools to help you decide whether it’s right for your car. If the answer is no, we’d rather you know that before you order.

One request

Whatever you use in your car, keep your eyes on the road. If something drops while you’re moving, leave it. Pull over somewhere safe and get it then.
