Where things go when they fall in

How it works

1. Drop it in

Set the gap filler into the space between your seat and the console.

2. Nudge it into shape

Work it into place so it follows the curve of your seat and console.

3. Drive

Move the seat the way you normally do. Phones and keys should stay up top instead of dropping in.

Check your fit before you order

The gap next to a car seat isn’t a standard size. Two cars with the same width can still behave differently, so measure yours first.
We haven't verified fit for specific car models yet. Follow the steps below, and if you want to ask about your car, send us the details.
  1. Put the seat where you normally drive.
  2. Measure the gap at the front, middle and back. Write down the narrowest and widest spots.
  3. With the car parked, move the seat through its full range and watch how the gap changes.
  4. Note where the seat belt buckle sits in relation to the gap.
  5. Shine a flashlight down the gap and look for seat rails, wiring or vents. Don’t pull anything apart.
  6. Check your owner’s manual for side airbags or seat sensors near the gap. Some carmakers say to keep that space clear.
  7. Do the driver and passenger sides separately. They’re often different.
  8. Take one photo looking straight down into the gap and one from the front.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit my car?

Maybe. Seats and consoles vary a lot, and we haven't tested it in every car, so we can't promise. Measure your gap with the fit guide above. If you're unsure, send us your car's year, make and model plus your measurements and we'll tell you what we know. You also have 30 days to send it back.

Will it stay put when I move the seat?

That's what it's built to do, but every car is different. After you install it, move the seat all the way forward, all the way back and through the recline range while parked. If anything catches or pushes out of place, take it out.

Will it get in the way of my seat belt?

It shouldn't. After you put it in, make sure you can still reach the buckle and click the belt in easily. If you can't, take it out.

Does it work with power seats?

It depends on how your seat and console are shaped. Run the power seat through its full range while parked and watch what the gap does. Power seats often move in more ways than manual ones, so give it a little extra time.

Is it safe near side airbags?

Check your owner's manual first. Some cars have airbags in the inner edge of the front seats, and a few carmakers say to keep the space between the seat and console empty. Volvo and Polestar do, for example. If your manual says to keep it clear, don't use a gap filler in that car.

What if something falls in while I'm driving?

Leave it. Pull over somewhere safe before you go looking. In a large federal study of real-world driving (NHTSA and Virginia Tech's 100-Car Study), reaching for a moving object raised the risk of a crash or near-crash about nine times.
